Psychotic disorders, which include schizophrenia and bipolar disorders, affect between 1-2 percent of the population, and at least 30,000 people currently live with such disorders in Norway. The disorders lead to a significantly reduced quality of life and 15-20 years shortened average lifespan due to both natural and unnatural causes of death.
