Nicola McLouchlin
Dr Nicola McLoughlin is a geologist and palaeontologist based at Rhodes University and the Centre for Excellence in Palaeosciences at the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. She received a BA Hons and MSci from the University of Cambridge (2002) in Natural Sciences, and a DPhil from the University of Oxford (2006) studying traces of life in some of the oldest rocks on Earth. She held several postdoctoral positions at the University of Bergen where she was theme leader of the Early Earth and Biosignatures group at the Centre for Excellence in Geobiology.
In 2011 she was awarded a BFS Recruitment scheme award for the project “The Emergence of life on Earth 3+ billion years ago” and became an Associate Professor of Geoscience at UiB. On completion of her BFS project in 2015 she became a full Professor of Geobiology at UiB.
