Karsten Specht
Prof. Karsten Specht is the head of the Bergen fMRI Group and professor at the Department of Biological and Medical Psychology, University of Bergen. He studied physics at the Rheinisch Westfälische Technische Hochschule (RWTH)-Aachen, Germany, which he finished with a “Diploma” degree in 1997. He worked for several years at the Research Center Jülich, Germany, and completed his PhD degree in Cognitive Neuroscience at the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany, in 2003, and his “Habilitation” in 2012.
Since 2004, he works at the Department of Biological and Medical Psychology at the University of Bergen, where he holds a professorship since 2012. In 2007, he received funding from the Bergen Research Foundation to build up his research group. Since then, the “Bergen Research Group on Auditory Perception” (BeRG-AP) is a permanent research node within the Bergen fMRI Group, and he received several follow-up grants from different funding sources. Since 2017, he is also the head of the Bergen fMRI Group, and holds a Professor II position at the Arctic University of Norway, Tromsø.
