Professor Bodil Holst is a professor of Nanophysics. She was the first person to recieve a BFS recruitment grant in 2007 to work on the development of a new microscope technique, using neutral atoms as an imaging probe. Bodil Holst holds a Ph.D in experimental physics from the University of Cambridge (1997) and has worked as a postdoc at the Max Planck Institute in Göttingen and Technical University of Graz before coming to Bergen. 2015 she was elected a member of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters. She is head of the UiB Nanostructures laboratory, which has been built also with support from Bergens Research Foundation. Bodil Holst research fields ranges from atom optics and microscopy over nanostructured surfaces to archaeology. She has published in all major international journals including Science and Nature. She recently published the book: Scientific Paper Writing – A Survival Guide with illustrations by Jorge Cham from PhD comics.
