Trond Mohn Foundation welcomes new employee Anja Hegen

On November 1st  2022, the Trond Mohn Foundation welcomed a new employee: Anja Hegen took up a position as senior advisor in the foundation’s research grant team.

She has a degree in biology from Darmstadt University of Technology and holds a doctorate in biology from the University of Freiburg in Br. in Germany. She was then employed as a researcher at UiB’s Department of Biomedicine. In 2008, she started to work as a research adviser in UiB’s Division of Research Administration. She also worked as an administrative coordinator at the Birkeland Center for Space Research (a Norwegian Centre of Excellence SFF) and since 2015 she was employed as a senior advisor in the Division of Research and Innovation at UiB. She was responsible for following up excellence research initiatives at UiB, for example Centers of Excellence (SFF) and the European Research Council ERC.

“It was the opportunity to support the fantastic research in Bergen and Norway that made the position at the Trond Mohn Foundation so attractive for me,” she says. “I was familiar with the foundation’s work from before and knew that no two working days will be the same. It is exciting.” she adds.

“We were overwhelmed by how many well-qualified people wanted to work with us. Anja’s background and experience are perfect for the foundation. It is a pleasure to welcome Anja to the team”, says general manager Sveinung Hole.

At Trond Mohn foundation, she will work with all parts of the project cycle, from the preparation of calls for proposals to final evaluations of thematic programs and projects.
