Competence
One of the main aims of the Trond Mohn Research Foundation is to support competence building at the University of Bergen (UiB) and at Haukeland University Hospital. The Starting Grant Programme has been the Foundation’s flagship programme right from the start.
The support to the Toppforsk Programme was a gift to UiB in conjunction with the Foundation’s 10th anniversary. The Foundation also financed a number of other activities, which are presented under Other Competence Building Initiatives.

Since Trond Mohn Research Foundation was established in 2004, the University of Bergen has had a unique strategic opportunity to recruit excellent young researchers through the Starting Grant Programme. The Foundation has been instrumental in recruiting over 50 young research leaders to the University of Bergen.
The TMF-UiB career program provides a network and learning opportunities to young researchers recruited to UiB through the TMF Starting Grant program. More information.

The University of Bergen seeks to promote more world-leading research in Bergen. The Foundation supports this effort.

Initiatives in particle therapy, bioinformatics and mathematics all make a considerable contribution to build competence in areas of strategic importance to the UiB, the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences and Haukeland University Hospital.
