All TMF calls for applications are announced here. The Foundation only accepts applications by invitation/through calls for applications.
About the calls for applications:
The TMF Starting Grant Programme (recruitment programme for the University of Bergen) is announced annually, normally in December with the application deadline in mid-March the following year.
Calls for applications in a thematic program will be announced in close collaboration with the respective academic units.
The Trond Mohn Research Foundation has allocated 25 MNOK for research on the topic of immune dysfunction. In collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine at UiB, which is contributing similar resources, a project competition has been announced. The competition has two stages and the first round is administered by the Faculty of Medicine, which selects projects that will be sent to the second round, which is administered by the Trond Mohn Research Foundation.
The deadline for applications for the first round is 30 April 2026 AT NOON.

The Trond Mohn Research Foundation (TMF) has established a program to support UiT- the Arctic University of Norway. Our sister foundation, Tromsø Research Foundation (TFS) will handle calls connected to this program. The next announcement for the TFS Starting Grant program is expected towards the end of 2025.
The Faculty of Medicine, Helse Bergen, and the Trond Mohn Research Foundation are jointly offering NOK 69 million for new research projects in medical AI.
