Bjarte Hannisdal heads the ‘Earth System Interactions and Information Transfer’ project. He studied biology and geology in Bergen before doing a PhD in Geophysical Sciences at the University of Chicago in 2006. After returning to Bergen he has been affiliated with the Centre of Excellence in Geobiology, the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research, and the K.G. Jebsen Centre for Deep Sea Research. He leads an interdisciplinary research group that uses insights from dynamical systems and information theory to study complex environmental interactions in the deep past, and the co-evolution of Life and Earth.
