F\u00f8rre completed his Cand. Scient. Degree in 2000 and was awarded the Dr. Scient. \u00a0degree in physics at the University of Bergen in 2004. The title of the thesis was \u201cOn the dynamics of excited atoms in time dependent electromagnetic fields\u201d. In the period 2004-2008 he held a postdoctoral position at the Department of Physics and Technology. F\u00f8rre has had three one-year terms as visiting reseracher abroad, respectively, at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Aarhus in 1999, at Laboratoire de Chimie Physique, Universit\u00e9 Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris in the period 2002-2003, and at Centre Lasers Intenses et Applications (CELIA), University of Bordeaux in France, from 2007-2008.
