The Starting Grant Programme

Since the start, the foundation has sought to promote recruitment of outstanding young researchers to Bergen. In cooperation with the University of Bergen (UiB) a 4-year recruitment program; the Starting Grant programme, has been established to achieve this goal.

The program calls for nominations each year and the foundation normally award 3-4 scholarships. Current candidates are presented below.

Willem van der Bilt

Dr Willem van der Bilt was awarded  TMS Starting Grant December  4th 2020. His project will use new techniques and models to improve the knowledge within the field of global warming.

Dr Erlend Grong was awarded the TMS Starting Grant on desember 4th 2020. The project will do the groundwork for new tools for understanding equations that appear in finance and robotics.

Dr Salwa Suliman ble tildelt TMS Starting Grant 4. desember 2020. Sulimans forskning omhandler stamceller; spesielle celler som kan gjenopprette skadet vev og bein i en prosess kalt regenerering.

Karl M. Laundal

Dr Karl M. Laundal was awarded the TMS Starting Grant December 6 2019. He leads the TMS Starting Grant project “What Shapes Space”. Project start 2020.
